Fuore BlackJag: The Unofficial 2004 Jaguar Concept Car

Not every car wearing a famous badge is built by the brand itself. The Fuore BlackJag carries Jaguar’s leaping-cat emblem on its nose, but the car behind it was designed and built entirely independently by Fuore Design, a Barcelona-based studio, with Jaguar’s authorization to use the name being the extent of the brand’s involvement.

Unveiled at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, the BlackJag followed Fuore’s earlier XF10 concept (also known as the FX10), shown in Barcelona the year before. Styled as an F1-inspired take on what a Jaguar supercar could look like, the car was fitted with a dramatically raised door and a striking red leather interior with quilted bucket seats, contrasting its glossy black exterior. Fuore claimed the car could be built with a 7.0-liter V10 producing 640 hp, capable of 0–62 mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed around 340 km/h — though these remained projected figures for a car that never reached series production.

The BlackJag was physically realized as a one-off prototype, built in Turin by Modarte under Stefano Ardagna, making it a genuine, photographable design study rather than a rendering — a rare and slightly mysterious footnote in the world of independent, unofficial automotive concept design.
