What is the XX Programme?
The XX Programme is an elite, track-only series run by Ferrari. Top customers drive experimental cars at exclusive events organized by Ferrari’s Corse Clienti division, and in return they contribute to the company’s research and development. The cars are not road legal and don’t race in any championship. The FXX K was the LaFerrari-based car of this program, and the Evo is its final form.

From FXX K to Evo
The Evo was revealed at the Finali Mondiali, Ferrari’s season-ending event, at its Mugello circuit in October 2017. It was the third “Evo” in the XX line, after the FXX Evo and the 599XX Evo. Ferrari offered it as an upgrade package for the existing FXX K cars and as a standalone model, and it hasn’t confirmed how many were produced.
The aerodynamics
Ferrari’s engineers brought the aerodynamics closer to GT3 and GTE race cars. The Evo has a fixed twin-profile rear wing with two side fins and a central fin, resculpted front and rear bumpers and underbody, and retuned suspension. The result is 23% more downforce than the standard FXX K and about 75% more than the road-going LaFerrari: 640 kg at 200 km/h and over 830 kg at top speed. In this photograph, the front view shows the other half of that work: the large splitter with the “FXX K evo” lettering, and the dive planes at each corner.
The power
The Evo’s V12 produces 860 hp. A 190-hp electric motor adds to it, for a combined 1,050 hp and 900 Nm. Inside, the car has a new steering wheel with Formula 1-derived shift paddles and controls for the kinetic energy recovery system.
About this car
This one wears a two-tone Blu Corsa Opaco livery with Nero Stellato Opaco accents over a Nero Alcantara interior and the number 8 on the splitter. I photographed this FXX K EVO at the 2019 Top Marques Monaco, Grimaldi Forum.
